LENR Demotivation

A little motivation never hurts.  For those suffering in the quagmire of LENR research, Peter Gluck of the Ego Out blog offers some insight and scientific analysis.

Among these latest developments is the mastery of optical meta-surfaces that comprise a class of optical Meta-materials with a reduced dimensionality that is exhibiting exceptional abilities for controlling the flow and manipulation of heat and electrons at the nano-level. These new capabilities achieve the anomalously large photonic density of quantum mechanical states that underlie the industrial LENR process.

LENR in CFL?

Lewis Larsen believes low energy nuclear reactions may already be innocuously occurring in your home.
“When viewed through the conceptual lens of the Widom-Larsen theory, Mead et al.’s carefully collected Hg isotope data suggests that low energy nuclear reaction (LENR) transmutations may actually be occurring at extremely low rates in CFLs during normal operation,” he said.
And that should make the idea of home nuclear reactors less frightening, Larsen said.
“If this outstanding new data is substantiated by further experimentation, it provides yet more proof that LENRs are likely to be a truly ‘green,’ safe nuclear technology.”

White House Push for LENR?

Speaking today from Argonne’s Advanced Photon Source, President Obama said “I want the next great job-creating breakthroughs, whether it’s in energy or nanotechnology or bio-engineering , I want those breakthroughs to be right here in the United States of America, creating American jobs and maintaining our technological lead.”
There doesn’t seem a better time for LENR traction than the present. Oil prices have stayed high through the Great Recession and advances in directional drilling and hydraulic fracturing of oil shale have opened up the U.S. to be the world’s largest exporter of oil this decade.
President Obama’s clean energy plan proposes to spend $200 million a year on research, would be paid for with revenue from federal oil and gas leases on offshore drilling and would not add to the deficit.
